Things I Love A1 – Activity 5

Aim of Activity

30 minutes (depending on class size)

To encourage students to use language they have learned to talk about their own experiences.

Steps for Students

  1. Select 3 objects that make you happy.
  2. You are going to bring these objects to class and show them to your classmates.
  3. Ask your class to guess why it makes you happy.
  4. Tell the class more about your objects.
    • This is a …………………………….
    • I selected this object because I love …………ing
    • It makes me happy because I like ……….ing
  1. Ask class to bring 3 objects that make them happy to the online class or classroom for the next class.
  2. Play this video: ACTIVITY 5 -Where children talk about what makes them happy.
  3. Teach any new words.
  4. Put the class into small groups or for a longer activity do as a whole class.
  5. Ask students to discuss their objects using this structure:
    • This is a …………………………….
    • I selected this object because I love …………ing
    • It makes me happy because……………

 

TIP! 

It is a good idea to model this activity by showing objects that make you happy first. Another option is to ask Students to make a video at home of an activity that makes them happy and to share with the class.
