A teenage girl has created a Vlog about her travel experiences in Ireland. She guides us through some of the interesting things she has done and facts she has learned about the country.

Steps for Students

  1. Listen to the teacher and look at the pictures ACTIVITY 1
  2. Are the sentences true or false?
  3. If a sentence is false, what is the correct answer?

Students can answer the questions by:

  • saying ‘TRUE’ or ‘FALSE’
  • standing up if it’s TRUE and sit down if it’s FALSE
  • moving left if it’s TRUE and right if it’s FALSE

Aim of Activity

To provide students with a controlled practice of vocabulary for social media.

Steps for Students

  1. Find someone in the class who likes the same youtubers as you.
  2. Prepare a short presentation for your class on this youtuber and why you like to view this channel.
  3. You can video your presentation if you wish and play for your class.
  1. Ask the class the following questions:
    • Do you watch youtube?
    • Who are your favourite youtubers?
    • Do you subscribe to any youtube channels?
    • Have you ever made any youtube videos?
  2. Divide students into groups and show them the enclosed Activity 2 with youtube task.
  3. Allow students time in class to work on or assign for homework.
  4. Schedule time for group or individual presentations

 

TIP!

  • Check the content that they are planning to show and encourage them to use youtube sites with some educational value.
  • For shyer students give them the option to video their presentation and play it for the class.

Aim of Activity

To aid with memorisation and correct pronunciation of irregular verbs.

Steps for Students

  1. Click on this link ACTIVITY 3
  2. Select ‘Flashcards’ to learn the irregular past verbs.
  3. Click on the audio to hear the correct pronunciation.
  4. Select ‘Match’ to play a quick game

  1. Ask students to open the link on devices in groups or play together on an Interactive board.
  2. Use the ‘flashcard’ option to learn the pronunciation and past tenses of the verbs.
  3. Emphasise pronunciation and click the audio to check.
  4. Use the ‘match’ function as a quick follow up activity (match base verb with past forms by dragging).
  5. Rewatch the animation and listen again for these verbs.

Steps for Students

  1. Look at this padletACTIVITY 5
  2. Can you give advice to teenagers from other countries who want to visit your country + region?
  3. Please add images/photos and videos to your padlet posts.
  4. Which country would you like to visit in the BOOST group?

  2. Explain that they need to make some suggestions for a tourist visiting their country or region. The whole class must agree on 10 things to try when visiting.
  3. Show examples from other countries already created (for example Ireland).
  4. Encourage students to create sentences using the structure: You should + infinitive
  5. Ask students to find images or online videos to illustrate their ideas.
  6. Read posts with advice for other countries + discuss which one they would most like to visit.

 

TIP!

  • If there is time students could create their own photos and videos to support their statements.
  • Another follow up activity would be to research other countries in groups and present results (use the padlet to help).
